I waited for this moment almost three years. The WAITR app is in town. The first concept of the app was introduced at the LRA 2014 . WAITR wanted originally reduce the waiting time at busy hours in restaurants by offering the option to order in advance via their app. This concept had changed. Now you can order via the app even home delivery and they developed a whole marketing concept to build a further sales channel for restaurants via the app. Where ever you are, the order get delivered! The company started in Lake Charles. Served the local market first and is now established in Lake Charles, Houston, Brazosport, The Woodlands and started this year also in Baton Rouge in February. A Public Relaese was published July 5th: “WAITR GOES LIVE in NEW ORLEANS.” That´s exciting. Last Monday I saw a little sticker at the entrance door of Brick & Spoon. Ardel Guillory recently opened there her branch and we were invited for a party there. The homemade food is delicious, the hospitality is very welcoming. And you can Build Your own Custom Bloody Marys like no other….
Richard did it his own way. He sold over 100.000 copies of his book The New Orleans Underground Gourmet. It was published in the 70ies and was the most sold restaurant guide for New Orleans of all time. The food experience New Orleans is unreached world wide. This is also reflected by the current over 290 search results for the term “New Orleans restaurants” on amazon. I cannot remember any place with such a variety and delicious kitchen like in New Orleans. I guess it is the best location to start any business in the food sector world wide. Richard was Professor in New Orleans and he contacted the publisher Simon & Schuster, NY. He got unexpected the contract to write this restaurant guide – even as a nobody in the food business. It´s a pity that I never met him in person. He passed away in 2010. I just bought his book The New Orleans Underground Gourmet. It´s outstanding. It´s like a journey in another world. Why am I reading this right now? I want to learn about the traditions and habits of the cooking world in New Orleans. I am going to dive deep into it…to keep the conversation going…If you are a restaurant owner I really welcome you to Click here to subscribe to my mailing list
