Julie Schwartz is educated as lawyer. She is a public speaker and New Orleans tour guide. Her specialty tour, New Orleans’ Jewish Heritage, encompasses the stories of Jewish historical personalities and the lasting legacy they have left to our city. For the past years, Julie has participated in Touro Synagogue’s weekly Torah Study, a lay-led group that employs a variety of approaches to textual study. I met Julie as member of the Toastmasters International New Orleans. She already belonged to the club over 20 years. I mentioned her in my last speech because I really appreciated that she told me she can always “learn” of my speeches. That is my premier goal in public speaking: “informal speaking”. Julie´s last speech was very emotional and personal. She talked about a life experience which really changed her life. I will never forget that one!!! And that happened shortly after I gave mine “Life.Love.Matter.” in memory of Brendon Burchard. Since last week there is the “2014 Johnny Meade Memorial Award” on my desk in my office. I was really surprised to receive this award at our last meeting in 2014. It should remind me that our members really appreciate my speeches and my engagement for the club. I joined in 2014 the Toastmasters International 234 in New Orleans, finished the so called CC which means Competent Communicator within 2014 ,and even reached the Second Price in the Area 13- Table Topic Speech contest in October this year.
