Avigail Abarbanel

The first step to introduce her book “We don´t die” Sandra Champlain offers a free download of the twelve pages “Grief and How To Deal with it – A No-nonsense Approach to Grief” of Avigail Abarbanel. Breath taking. I finished it in one reading and was really positive impressed by the wording of Avigail.

She starts with some words of one of my favorite authors Rainer Maria Rilke. When I felt bad as a young boy because I lost my dad when I was 10 my mom gave me an article about Rilke´s “letters to his dad”

These are moments you keep your whole life:–)))

Avigail describes “grief” as a brain process through which “our limbic system adjusts its internal image of the world in order to accommodate a significant life change.” She describes that it does not make sense to try to “heal” or “eliminate” a process of grief. She mentions the big misunderstand between depression and grief and the bad influence of medication in such processes. She points out the different symptoms of grief and characterize them in emotional, mental, physical, relational, behavioural and spiritual symptoms. In three words: “definitely worth reading.”

Hi Bernhard, Thank you for your glowing review of my grief article. Just wanted to mention that I am a ‘she’ not a ‘he’… I also wanted to ask if you could tell me where in the book Sandra Champlain mentions my article. Thank-you!
